Your note rate is what your monthly principal & interest payment is based on. Your APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is a broader, federally standardized figure (under the Truth in Lending Act) that spreads discount points, lender fees, and certain other closing costs over the loan term and expresses the result as an equivalent annualized rate. Because it folds in up-front costs, APR is almost always higher than the note rate, and it's the number designed for "apples-to-apples" comparisons between loan offers with different fee structures.
This calculator takes your rate, loan amount, term, and estimated points/fees and computes the equivalent APR.
